NASA recently shared information about asteroid 2025 DU7, which passed very close to Earth. Although traveling at high speed, it poses no threat. For context, the Moon is about 239,000 miles away, and this asteroid came even closer.

Unlike Asteroid 2024 YR4, which once had a 3.1% chance of colliding with Earth in 2032, that risk is now zero, thanks to further data.

Tracking asteroids is challenging, especially when new ones appear from behind the Sun, where NASA's instruments can't detect them due to the glare. NASA uses both ground and space-based equipment to monitor near-Earth objects (NEOs) and potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs).

Regarding Asteroid 2025 DU7, it is 15 feet in size and belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It made its closest approach to Earth on February 28, traveling at a speed of 7,175 miles per hour. It has been classified as a NEO by NASA's Small-Body Database Lookup.
